More Frequently Asked Questions
This information will help you understand more about Repeat Boutique 2
Excellent condition means something different to most people. My definition of "Excellent" menas there are no chips or cracks, but there may be characteristics of age such as allowable basewear, bubbles, strawmarks (inclusions or cooling marks) or mold marks. Cloudiness is sometimes found in older glassware; however, I would rarely list an item with cloudiness. Glassware can change from clear and may have a slight tint to it. Some people refer to this as "sun purple." I do not sell sun purple glass. Some of the pieces I have do have a minimal tint. This is the result of the glassmaker's formula during the era the pieces were made.
Examining glass under an ultraviolet light will often cause the glass to glow in a variety of colors. The glow is an indication of the chemicals used in the glass manufacturing process. I black light test all older pieces and report the color of the glow if there is any. However, not all old glass will glow under a blacklight.
The presence of mold lines is not necessarily an indication of the age of the product. Often mold lines are concealed in the glassware pattern. Other times, the lines are clearly visible.
Packaging for Mailing
I love my antiques and collectibles and pack them very carefully. These items are very fragile and I want to make certain they arrrive at your address in one piece.
I wrap items in bubble wrap and use packing peanuts to cushion them. For especially fragile pieces I double box the items which can cause a package to be heavier.
